Here at Carre's Grammar School we care about living in a sustainable environment.

This year our year 7 and 8 students elected Form Eco Reps. Their duties include, taking part in school projects, attending meetings, encouraging other students using their form rooms to be friendly to our environment and to feedback information to their tutor groups.

Our Eco Action Team, consisting mainly of year 7 and 8 students, have been busy building a plastic bottle greenhouse in the Heads Garden. We came across the idea when a few of us attended a sustainability show at the Lincolnshire Show Ground. Since then Daniel Tarry - a former student tasked himself with building a frame from recycled plastic. Now our students are working hard to complete the project ready to plant salad for use in The Chill when we reach the warmer months.

For the past two years we have been maintaining a school allotment, which has produced vegetables for The Chill and group members. This is a valuable project for our school, allowing students to see where their food comes from and appreciate the effort required to grow the produce (and to keep the weeds at bay). This project is supported by students from all year groups.

We have already achieved Silver Flag Status and aim in the future to achieve the Green Flag Award.
