Staff Prepare to Run the London Landmarks Half Marathon in Aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK

Mrs James, Mrs Carpenter and Mrs Ditton from the English Department

On 3 April, three members of the Carre’s staff will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in order to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Kate Carpenter, Sally James and Beverley Ditton are running in memory of Mathematics teacher, Ellen Benney, who sadly passed away in August last year.

The half-marathon route takes in the best of London’s most iconic and cultural landmarks starting at Pall Mall and finishing at Downing Street.

In the UK, around 10,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed each year, and it has the lowest survival rate of all common cancers – only around 5% of those diagnosed survive for five years or more.

Last Sunday, Kate and Beverley competed in the Burghley 7 road race as part of their preparation. With less than three weeks to go, training runs are now tapering.

Good Luck Team Carre's - go ladies!
