*Applications are open for our Residential Insight into University Courses.

These are summer schools at various top Universities that run over 4 or 5 days when students get a taster of university life and an insight into a specific STEM subject.  Students will get the opportunity to experience university-style lectures and work on activities and group projects with the support of academics and student mentors. Students will stay in halls of residence and will take part in social activities in the evenings, so that they get the full university experience.

Experience Physics and Astrophysics at NTU

Tuesday 14 January 11 - 2pm

We are excited to invite you to our Physics & Astrophysics Experience Day. Presented by our academics, undergraduates and school placement students, join us to explore a showcase of research projects which will make the content come alive. Then take a guided tour through a range of our facilities including our observatory, planetarium, MRI, and plasma labs. You will also have a chance to ask questions to current students and find out from academics what career pathways a Physics degree could lead to.

All of our Experience Days are completely free of charge and designed to help you decide if this is the right subject for you. They can even help personal statements stand out.

We’re excited to share that Trinity Hall, one of the colleges at the University of Cambridge, has launched a podcast—Cambridge from the Inside.

This new podcast focuses on Outreach and Admissions at Cambridge, offering valuable insights into the admissions process and student life. It features interviews with our Director of Admissions, current students, and academics. Topics include Top Tips for Interviews, Admissions FAQs, Sciences Interviews Explained, Studying Philosophy at Cambridge, Law Admissions Advice and more!

The podcast is aimed towards both Key Stage 5, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 3 students – so please distribute this to the students in your school.

Open Days and Campus Tours - Sheffield University

We have been incredibly pleased to welcome thousands of visitors onto our campus this Autumn during our open days. While we work to finalise our Summer open day dates, our campus tours are an excellent opportunity to visit Sheffield and get a feel for student life with us, guided by one of our student ambassadors. Summer schools

Our Access to Sheffield (https//:www.sheffield.ac.uk/schools/programme)offer includes two national summer schools that allow students to come onto campus and experience university life.

The Access to Sheffield Summer School   (https://wwww.sheffield.ac.uk/schools/programmes/summer-school) run courses on preparing students for university life and developing the essential skills needed for higher education.

The Sutton Trust Summer School (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/schools/partnership/sutton-trust) offers subject specific strands which allow students to experience university level study in their chosen subject. Applications for both summer schools open in January 2025 but in the meantime students and staff can register their interest on our dedicated form linked below.

Access+ Travel Bursary for interviews

If students meet our Access+ criteria, we might be able to refund the travel costs for them to attend university interviews at Sheffield. They can claim for train (standard tickets only), bus, tram and coach tickets, as well as mileage if they're travelling by car.
