Work Related Learning Coordinator

RAF online insight event on Tuesday 11 August at 6pm.

It’s a free,1-hour session on Teams where the RAF team will talk about some of the roles available and answer questions.

A final reminder that applications for Sutton Trust Online (STO) are now open! STO is a FREE digital programme which helps students explore, apply, prepare for and succeed at university or an apprenticeship. Last year, STO supported 14,000+ students!

Here at The Engineering Development Trust, we are delighted to share a range of engaging summer opportunities designed to help your students explore STEM from home, develop valuable skills, and gain a meaningful insight into future study and career pathways. These activities offer a flexible and accessible way for students to stay inspired over the summer while building confidence, curiosity, and experience. Please see the details below. I have also attached the course flyers for you to share directly with your students and their parents/guardians.

For students aged 11–16: Individual Challenger Activities

The Individual Challenger Activities provide students with the opportunity to complete a creative, hands-on STEM project from home. Designed by educational experts, each activity encourages students to apply their imagination, problem-solving skills and curiosity while completing a project independently and at their own pace. Once completed, students will join our alumni network and receive priority updates about future EDT and Industrial Cadets activities and a Challenger level Industrial Cadets Award.

For students aged 16+: STEM Futures: University Pathway

STEM Futures: University Pathway, formerly Virtual Insight into University, is a comprehensive virtual experience for students interested in exploring STEM study at university. Students can learn more about university life, take part in STEM projects and activities developed by leading UK universities and global STEM companies, access first-year undergraduate-style lectures, and join live interactive sessions with academics, admissions tutors, employers, and current students.  Upon completion, students will receive a Silver level Industrial Cadets Award, a nationally recognised accreditation that can strengthen future university, apprenticeship, and employment applications.

For students aged 16+: Online Masterclasses

Our Masterclasses are virtual live sessions designed to provide students with an insight from experienced industry professionals. Covering a range of topics, from careers in STEM to key professional skills, these sessions offer students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and hear directly from experts in the field.

Your voice has the power to shape the future of crime, policing and community safety in Lincolnshire.

Following a successful first year, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire are recruiting a small group of young leaders aged 14 – 21 to be the voice of young people on these important issues.

As one of our Safer Communities Leaders, you would take on an important voluntary role in helping to make our communities safer. This is your chance to speak up about the issues that matter most to you and other young people where you live.

You’ll be supported by professionals to work with other Safer Communities Leaders to engage with young people across the county. You will gather their views and then present your findings and ideas for change directly to the Police and Crime Commissioner and senior leaders in policing and community safety.

This is a unique opportunity to represent young people across Lincolnshire, share your ideas, build new skills, and stand up for your generation, making sure your voice is heard by the people making decisions that affect you. The University of Manchester is offering free virtual career simulations to help students aged 14+ explore careers in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and Environmental Science, while discovering how artificial intelligence is transforming these fields. 

Each simulation has been developed with University of Manchester academics and gives students an insight into what these careers look like today, the skills they involve, and how AI is shaping the future of work. Students will:

  • Explore career pathways and progression
  • Learn the foundations of AI and how it is transforming the profession
  • Hear from University of Manchester academics about their research and careers
  • Complete an interactive task based on a real challenge from the role
  • Earn a certificate to showcase their engagement with science, engineering and AI, which can be added to their CV or included in future applications
  • Receive priority access to upcoming University of Manchester Science and Engineering opportunities, including on-campus experiences, events, and other enrichment activities.

The simulations – developed in partnership with Springpod – are free to access, can be completed flexibly online, and are designed to help students build their understanding of STEM careers while exploring the growing role of AI across science and engineering.

  • Gain a Silver Industrial Cadets Award on successful completion, providing valuable evidence of skills and experience for future applications and career development.
