World Book Day Brings Fun, Competition and Creativity to Carre’s

Carre’s marked World Book Day with a whole host of fun, book‑inspired activities. Form groups kicked off the day with energetic literary quizzes, and just before lunch, the whole school took part in a special Drop Everything And Read session.
Year 7 enjoyed a full morning in the hall, taking part in a range of engaging tasks. The day began with an online Book and Footy Quiz that tested both reading knowledge and sporting skills. Students were then treated to a virtual author talk from Nathanael Lessore, who shared insights into his writing career and spoke passionately about the importance of reading.
Later, students worked in teams to explore the creative concept of “Reading as a Sport.” They imagined what training might involve, how leagues and fixtures could be organised, and what it would take to become a true reading champion. Prizes were awarded to the strongest groups, adding a fun competitive edge to the session.
Both Year 7 and the English Department thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations, embracing books, stories, and the pleasure of reading.
