Personal Development
Curriculum Intent
Across our Personal Development curriculum at Carre's, we intend to create a safe and inclusive environment for students to understand who they are now and to explore who they hope to become. We help them to know how they can make healthy, positive choices, contribute mindfully to the world around them, and build resilience in the face of upcoming life challenges.
Implementation
We deliver this curriculum across the school:
- In discrete Personal Development lessons (Year 7 receive two hours per timetable cycle and Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 receive one hour per timetable cycle)
- In weekly form time 'Votes for Schools' sessions
- In assemblies
- In additional annual Year 7 and Year 9 Stay Safe days, in partnership with our local safeguarding communities and Lincolnshire County Council
- In subject lessons (e.g. Computing, Ethics and Philosophy, Science...)
- In workshops and events with external providers such as Positive Health Lincolnshire
- In extra-curricular activities and events
- Through our wide variety of careers opportunities and workshops.
Our bespoke curriculum is built around three key strands:
- Health & Wellbeing
- Relationships
- Living in the Wider World (including impartial Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks.)
